Cork County U-21 "A" Hurling Championship 1/4 Final ERINS OWN 0-15 BALLYHEA 1-7 (02/11/03) Played At | Ballyclough. Our U-21's hopes of county honours were ended last Sunday at Ballyclough after an entertaining encounter with reigning county champions Erins Own. Ballyhea started brightly with points from Maurice O' Sullivan and Timmy Shanahan. After 15 minutes Erins Own led 0-5 to 0-4. At Half-time the East Cork side led 0-8 to 0-5. With the aid of a strong breeze their lead was stretched to 8 points, 0-13 to 0-5 by the 47th minute, but Ballyhea refused to surrender and a fine goal was scored by the excellent Stephen O' Sullivan after good work by his brother Maurice and John O' Riordan in the 48th minute. The Ballyhea defence were well on top now with Kieren O' Riordan and Tim Shanahan prominent. Points from Jonathon O' Sullivan in the 52nd and 56th minutes had the margin down to 3 points but Erins Own rallied with 2 late points to secure a place in the semi-finals against Kanturk.
