North Cork Division 2 Junior Hurling League Round 5 BALLYHEA 1-12 NEWTOWN 1-5 (03/06/03) Played At | Ballyhea. Our Juniors picked up two valuable league points at the expense of neighbours Newtown at Ballyhea on Tuesday night last. Ballyhea started well with early points from Edmund O' Regan, Tommy McNamara, Johnny O' Flaherty and Diarmuid Flynn (3) to lead 0-6 to 0-0 after 15 minutes. But 1-2 from Newtown in the space of 5 minutes had them back in the game. Further points from Edmund O' Regan and Johnny O' Sullivan had Ballyhea leading 0-8 to 1-2 at half-time. Ballyhea had an early second half point from Diarmuid O' Riordan to stretch our lead and when Diarmuid goaled in the 43rd minute the game was over as a contest. With our backs on top especially the half-back trio of Gavin Metelko, Denis Mortell and Patrick O' Connor and Liam O' Connor excelling at mid-field, Newtown found scores hard to come by. In the end Ballyhea ran out winners by 7 points.
