North Cork Under 21 "A" Hurling Championship 1/4 Final KILWORTH 1-10 BALLYHEA 1-12 (03/07/04) Played At | Castletownroche. Our U-21 hurlers advanced to the North Cork Semi Final after they overcame the stiff challenge of Kilworth on Saturday night. It was a fairly even first half with the sides level 1-2 to 0-5 after the first quarter. Ballyhea's goal coming from Maurice O' Sullivan (free) in the 10th minute. Edward Rea was unlucky to hit the crossbar shortly after, but Kilworth took over for the remainder of the half and it needed a good save from Dan O' Donoghue to keep us within 2 points of Kilworth. The half-time score was 1-7 to 1-5 It was 9 minutes into the second half before Ballyhea had their next score, by which time Kilworth had gone 4 points clear, but we then had 6 points on the trot without reply. 5 from Maurice and one from sub Kevin Hanley to lead by 2 points with 8 minutes remaining. Despite a late rally from Kilworth, the Ballyhea defence held firm and a late point from John William O' Brien sealed the win for us. Ballyhea now meet Newtown, who overcame Glanworth, in the Semi-Finals.
