A great week for the club was crowned last Saturday night when our Seniors defeated Carbery at Pairc Ui Rinn with a 3 point victory.
Having defeated Ballyhea in '92 and '94 it made the victory all the more sweeter. Played in slippery conditions, Ballyhea led at half-time 0-9 to 0-7, thanks mainly to the excellence of Neil Ronan at full-forward who gave the Carbery full-back a torrid-time.
Unfortunately though Aidan Crowley had to be stretchered of the field after scoring an excellent point just before half-time with an ankle injury.
Carbery took over for a minute spell in the second half between the 35th and 45th minute to lead 0-12 to 0-11. But Ballyhea rallied again with Neil Ronan now at center-forward, Ian Curtin at full-forward and Ian Ronan at Midfield. While at the back, the oldest player on the team, Noel Hanley, was giving a tremendous display and excellent scores from Darren Ronan and Neil Ronan, Ballyhea regained the lead and with a 2 point cushion entering the final minute, Neil Ronan sealed the victory with another fine point.
Ballyhea now meet North Cork Divisional side Avondhu in an eagerly awaited 1/4 Final tie in two weeks time.
