Dromin/Athlacca Tounament O'Keeffe Cup Semi Final

DROMIN/ATHLACCA 1-13 BALLYHEA 1-16 (04/04/03)
Played At | Athlacca.

A much changed Ballyhea side advanced to the final of the O' Keeffe cup Tournament at Athlacca last Friday night with a 3 point victory over a very skillful home side. Athlacca settled well and led 0-5 to 0-1 after 10 mins. Ballyhea came more into the game now with Eamon Morrissey, Johnny O' Sullivan and especially Ian Ronan excelling, 7 points in 10 minutes to put us 0-8 to 0-5 in front. The home side though rallied again to go in 2 points ahead at half-time 1-8 to 0-9
The first 10 mintes of the second half belonged to Athlacca but could only add a point to their total. Points from Ian Curtin and Jonathon O' Sullivan and the impressive Danny O' Donoghue had the sides level 0-12 to 1-9 with 15 minutes remaining. Ballyhea, with veteran Diarmuid O' Fylnn causing problems on the 40 for Athlacca, had another Ian Ronan point in the 47th minute but failed to score again for the next 10 mins as Athlacca surged ahead 1-13 to 0-13 but once again Ballyhea finished strong with points from Ian Curtin (57th minute), Jonathon O' Sullivan (58th minute) and Aidan O' Connor (60th minute) to draw level. Then in injury time a brilliant Ballyhea move ended with sub Diarmuid O' Riordan goaling and putting us through to the final on Easter Sunday night versus Croom or Bruree.
