After a tense Final, Newtown were victorious as this will be recalled as one that got away. Newtown started well and led 1-4 to 1-1 after 20 mins. Denis Mortell goaling in the 6th min after good work by Michael O' Mahony. 2 points each from Conor O' Riordan and Johnny O' Sullivan and a Michael O' Mahony point with another well taken Denis Mortell goal in the 28th min had Ballyhea 2-6 to 1-6 ahead at the break.

The second half though saw Newtown claw their way into the lead and by the 50th min they had 7 points to none from Ballyhea to lead by 4. Stephen O' Sullivan had our first score from a free in the 52nd min. Newtown had 2 more points before Stephen O' Sullivan finished to the net after a goal mouth scamble in the 63rd min but it was too little too late.
