Ballyhea made the trip to Caherlag on Wednesday night for this Senior Hurling League clash with last years County Finalists, but came home empty handed after an excellent game of hurling. Erins Own had the aid of the strong breeze in the first half but after the 1st quarter they led 0-5 to 0-3.
They stetched their lead coming up to half time with 2 well taken goals. (2-9 to 0-7). Ballyhea clawed their way back in the 2nd half with some fine points from Neil Ronan and Johnny O' Sullivan. By the 45 min the home sides lead was down to 5 points 2-12 to 0-13. Points from Eamon Morrissey, Ian Curtin and Neil Ronan had the lead down to 2 points with 8 mins remaining.
We tried hard for the all important goal but the Erins Own defence refused to wilt and they held on for a 3 point victory.
