North Cork Junior "B" Hurling Championship 1/4 Final BALLYHEA 1-9 NEWTOWN 1-11 (06/08/04) Played At | Charleville. The Junior B Hurlers made their exit from the Chmapionship at the Quarter Final stage, losing to Newtown at Charleville on Friday Night. Ballyhea led 0-5 to 0-3 at half-time with points from Johnny O' Flaherty, John William O' Brien, Stephen O' Sullivan, and two long range frees from Dan O' Donoghue who had a fine game in goal. With our defence giving little away, Ballyhea looked to be in a good position at the break. Johnny O' Flaherty who was in good form at full forward added a goal shortly after half-time to put Ballyhea 4 points ahead. Newtown began to get a grip on posession after that and were back on level terms with 10 minutes remaining. They looked the fitter side in the closing stages and finished strongly to lead by 3 points nearing the final whistle. A fine late effort by Conor Condon went marginally over rather than under the bar and Newtown held out for a two point win. Although Newtown were probably the better side, it certainly could have gone either way and Ballyhea were unfortunate that 5 players who started in the previous round were unavailable on the night.
