Cork County Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship Round 1 NEWCESTOWN 1-9 BALLYHEA 0-11 (07/05/04) Played At | Ballyanly. Our hurlers will have to go through the back door if they are to retain their interest in this year's Championship after a one point defeat at the hands of Newcestown last Weekend. This was a most disappointing result as this was a game that could have been won. Playing with the breeze in the first half and with our backline on top, Ballyhea appeared to be in control at half-time leading by 0-9 to 0-3 with Maurice O' Sullivan getting 6 points and Darren Ronan, Owen O' Sullivan and Diarmuid O' Riordan also getting on the scoresheet. Ballyhea were to add only 2 points to their tally in the second half yet still led by 0-11 to 0-7 with 10 mintes remaining. Newcestown by now were completely dominating possession while Ballyhea were struggling to hold out and Newcestown took the lead for the first time with a goal with 2 minutes left to snatch this win.
