Division 2 Junior Hurling League Play-Off

Another great win for the Junior's and for the club when we qualified for the league semi-final with this victory over Churchtown at Charleville's new pitch last Wednesday night.

Having already lost at home to Churchtown in the league this was a welcome win. Ballyhea playing against the wind in the 1st half opened with a fine point from Conor Condon in the 1st minute and followed by a well taken goal from Dave Ryan in the 9th minute after good work by Maurice O' Sullivan and Brian O' Shaughnessy. Churchtown settled down now and had a goal and 2 points in the space of 6 minutes before Maurice O' Sullivan equalised with a point in the 17th minute. The game went 10 minutes before the next score with both defences on top.

The next score was a goal for Ballyhea from Brian O' Shaughnessy after a great pass from Dave Ryan. Both sides had points before half-time to leave Ballyhea leading 2-3 to 1-3.

Churchtown had a goal and a point early in the 2nd half before Maurice O' sullivan pointed in the 37th min to draw level again. Ballyhea had a goal from John Mortell in the 40th minute followed by points from Brian O' Shaughnessy (2), and Conor Condon (3) to lead by 2 goals with 5 minutes remaining. Edmund O' Regan added another point before Churchtown had a goal from St. Colmans college playerKieren Curtin from a 21 yard free. But Ballyhea replied immediately with a goal from sub Liam O' Connor with his first touch having been out injured for the last 3 months.

Ballyhea now face Buttevant in the semi-final, while Clyda Rovers facing Kilworth in the other semi.
