Ballyhea advanced to the third round of the championship with this impressive victory over last years beaten finalists Courcey Rovers at Pairc ui Caoimh last Sunday. Ballyhea got off to dream start with a Ryan Hanley goal after 6 mins. This was followed by a well taken Maurice O' Sullivan goal to give Ballyhea an emphatic lead. With Aidan "chuck" O' Connor and Eamonn Morrissey leading by example in defence, Ian "Rocky" Ronan outstanding at midfield and Maurice O' Sullivan and Neil Ronan a constant threat up front aided by the hard working Liam O' Connor, Ballyhea were full value for their 7 point half time lead.

Courceys made a bold bid in the 2nd period but found David O' Riordan in unbeatable form denying them on at least 4 occassions. Maurice O' Sullivan with as cool as a finish as was ever seen at the park when he lobbed the advancing keeper to put Ballyhea 11 points clear with 17 minutes remaining. Courceys pulled a goal back but Ballyhea, with fine points from Maurice O' Sullivan (2) and Neil Ronan were not to be denied their place in the next round.
