Intermediate Liam Breathnach Cup Round 1

INISCARRA 0-17 BALLYHEA 2-11 (20/03/05)
Played At | Ballyanly.

The Intermediates opened the season away to Iniscarra today and earned a share of the spoils thanks to a late goal from Timmy Shanahan. Ballyhea opened brightly and after 10 mins led 0-5 to 0-4 thanks to points from Aidan Crowley (2), Jonathon O Sullivan, Maurice O' Sullivan and Diarmuid O' Riordan (who had just replaced the injured Darran Ronan). At the end of the 1st 1/4 we led 0-9 to 0-4. We lost Ian Ronan with a head injury in the 20th minute. The points dried up for Ballyhea as the home side gained heart. Olly Morrissey pulled off a great point blank save but a goal on the stroke of half time by Maurice O' Sullivan after Gavin Morrissey's effort had been saved had us 1-10 to 0-6 ahead at the break.

With the aid of the strong breeze the home side started adding points and by the 53rd minute they had scored 8 pts without reply to go 2 pts clear 0-14 to 1-10 ahead. Maurice O' Sullivan had a point from a free in the 53rd Minute to leave just a point between the sides, but Iniscarra added 2 more points before Timmy Shanahan grabbed Gavin Morrissey's long delivery to finish to the bottom corner and tie the game.
