In a very entertaining final played on Sunday, Croom with a goal and 2 points in injury time emerged victors. Ballyhea started in devastating form with a Darren Ronan point and goal and a point from the highly impressive Maurice O' Sullivan. By the 10th minute Croom were level. Maurice O' Sullivan had Ballyhea ahead again with a point in the 11th minute. Goals for Sroom in the 12th and 19th minutes put them 3-3 to 1-3 ahead after 20 minutes, but Ballyhea finished the half strongly with 5 points to leave them just 3 points behind at half-time.

The second half produced hurling of a very high quality with Darren Ronan pointing in the 31st and 35th minutes before Croom added their fourth goal. Ballyhea responded immediately with a brilliantly worked movement for Darren Ronan to goal and leave just one point between the sides, 4-5 to 2-10.

Croom added 3 points with Darren Ronan replying in the 37th minute. Neil Ronan and Barry Coleman added points in the 47th and 49th minutes before Croom had 3 further points. Aidan O' Connor had a rasping effort go just over the bar with 5 minutes to go to leave just 3 points between the sides. Then in the final dramatic moments, Neil Ronan's effort was saved but Maurice O' Sullivan crashed home the rebound to tie the game. But deep in injury time Croom's late rally yielded a goal and 2 points to retain the Johnny O' Keeffe Memorial Cup after a cracking game.
