Munster Senior Hurling League 2003 Round 3 BALLYHEA 1-17 TALLOW 6-11 (20/08/03) Played At | Ballyhea. After a high scoring league tie the points went to the Co. Waterford boys and thus ended Ballyhea's hopes of reaching the Semi-Finals at Ballyhea last Wednesday night. We started brightly with 2 early points from Neil Ronan before the visitors had their opening goal in the 4th minute. Points from Neil Ronan (6th min) Ian Curtin (8th min) and Tim Shanahan (10 min) had us 0-5 to 1-1 ahead after 10 minutes. Points from Tim Shanahan (13 min) and Brendan Daly (15 min) put Ballyhea 0-7 to 1-2 ahead at the end of the 1st 1/4. Tallow though replied with a well worked goal followed by a point although Neil Ronan replied with 2 points to have the sides level 0-9 to 2-3 after 20 mins. Points from Neil Ronan (21st and 27th min) and Tim Shanahan (26th min) had us 0-12 to 2-5 clear before Tallow goaled on the stroke of Half-time to lead by 2 points after a very entertaining 1st half. Tallow had a goal in the 32nd minute and a point in the 34th minute before Liam O' Connor's free in the 35th minute went all the way to the net to leave 3 points between the sides. Both sides exchanged points to leave the scores after 45 mins 1-14 to Ballyhea and 4-8 to the visitors. Timmy Shanahan pointed a free in the 48th minute to leave just 2 points between the teams. But Tallow took the game by the scruff of the neck with 2 goals in the space of a minute in the 52nd minute and 53 minute. Although we had 2 late points, the concession of soft goals proved costly.
