Cork County U-21 "A" Championship 1/4 Final

Despite atrocious weather conditions in front of a large Ballyhea contingent our U-21's advanced to the county semi-final after a tremendous contest with the Carrigdhoun champions Courcey Rovers at Fermoy last Sunday.

Courceys played with the aid of a strong wind in the first half but Ballyhea's defence held firm. With the forwards and midfield putting in Trojan work Ballyhea trailed by just a point at half-time on a scoreline of 0-4 to 1-0. The goal came from Sean Coleman after 20 minutes.

We were level early in the second-half with a fine point from Owen O' Sullivan. Courceys were thrown a life-line when they goaled five minutes later. But Ballyhea stuck to their task and were rewarded when Maurice O' Sullivan's free ended up in the net with 15 minutes remaining to draw level again 2-1 to 1-4. Both sides were giving it their all at this stage in the trying conditions.

Maurice O' Sullivan pointed only for the West Cork lads to draw level again. Three more points from Maurice O' Sullivan in the closing minutes put us in the driving seat after Sean Coleman added his second goal when he flicked Conor Condon's delivery to the net. Courceys tried hard to come back but Ballyhea were not to be denied their place in the semi-final verses the city champions.

This was another excellent performance by the lads and credit must go to both sides for the contest they provided in shocking weather conditions.
