Cork County Club Senior Hurling League 2003 Round 2 BALLYHEA 1-12 SARSFIELDS 2-17 (23/03/03) Played At | Ballyhea. Our Seniors went under to Sarsfields at Ballyhea last Sunday in Round 2 of the Senior League. Ballyhea started well with points from Darren Ronan and Ian Ronan before Pat Ryan had Sarsfields opening score in the 7th minute from a '65. Further points from Darren Ronan and Brenden Daly put us 0-4 to 0-1 ahead after 10 minutes play. Neil Ronan fired over two fine points to leave us leading 0-6 to 0-3 at the end of the first quarter. Two goals in five minutes and two further points suddenly put Sarsfields 2-5 to 0-6 ahead. Maurice O' Sullivan (2), Darren Ronan and Aidan O' Connor pointed before the break for Ballyhea but Sarsfields still led 2-10 to 0-10 although Neil Ronan was unlucky just on the stroke of half-time when his bullet like shot came off the crossbar. Maurice O' Sullivan had an early point in the second half but Ballyhea failed to score for another 20 minutes although Darren Ronan saw a shot come off the post and the Sarsfields keeper bringing off a number of fine saves before Neil Ronan goaled in the 51st minute to reduce Sarsfields lead to 6 points 2-25 to 1-12. Sarsfields finished with two further points to secure the spoils.
