2010 Cork County Intermediate Premier Hurling Championship Round 2

Ballyhea 0-18 Fr O'Neills 1-11
Played in Mallow (27/06/10)

Ballyhea advanced to the 4th round of the championship with this fine victory in Mallow last Sunday. We got off to a blistering start against the wind with early Jonathon O'Sullivan points and received another tonic at the end of the first quarter when Fr O'Neills were reduced to 14 men. The East cork lads though struck for a goal shortly after this to lead 1-3 to 0-5. Ballyhea though were playing well against the wind with Ian Rocky Ronan and Kieran Morrissey very influential. Up front Neil Ronan, Maurice o' Sullivan and Jonathon O'Sullivan had some fine points as the sides went in level 1-4 to 0-7 at the break.

With the strong wind now behind us Ballyhea maintained their lead in the second half although probably should have made the game safe but for a number of wides. O'Neills kept in touch and with 5 minutes to go just trailed by 2 points but late points from Gavin Morrissey and a Neil Ronan free secured our status and put us through to the last 14. The draws for the fourth round take place shortly.
