Ballyhea 1-3 Mallow 4-10 @ Liscarroll

The long awaited replay ended in a comfortable victory for Mallow against a Ballyhea side depleted because of the flu. Mallow had it all their own way in the first half leading 2-7 to 0-0 at half-time. Maurice O' Sullivan gave Ballyhea a glimmer of hope with a well taken penalty after John O' Riordan was fouled in the 38th min. Mallow though replied with 2 more goals in the 39th and 46th minutes. Ballyhea may have been closer but for a fine penalty save by the Mallow keeper from Maurice O' Sullivan and a brilliant save to deny Owen O' Sullivan. In the end though Mallow added further points to regain the title.

Saturday 17th November | Cork County U-16 "Premier" Hurling Final
Ballyhea 2-9 Glen Rovers 2-5 @ Fermoy

These are good times for Ballyhea. Already Cork County Minor "A" champions, our under 16's won the first Premier title for the Club in Fermoy on Saturday, beating Glen Rovers in a game contested with great passion throughout. Full credit to both sides for a super game of hurling. No question though, but Ballyhea deserved their triumph despite a battling show by the Glen in the second half. In centre-back Barry Coleman, Ballyhea had a mighty leader, but they had strenght in depth right down the middle, with full-back Michael Morrissey, midfielders Eddie Rea and Owen O' Sullivan, centre-forward Maurice O' Sullivan and full-forward John O' Riordan all hurling superbly to keep the Glen at bay. It was 1-5 to 0-1 to Ballyhea after the opening Quarter, Maurice O' Sullivan getting three of these points and Owen O' Sullivan another after some superb combination play. But it was O' Riordan's 15th minute goal that did the damage. Glen improved somewhat in the second Quarter, but despite a late dust up in which a couple of players were booked, Ballyhea were looking good at the interval with that six point lead. The Glen thundered into the action in the second half. A penalty goal in the 44th Minute left just two points between the sides entering the final Quarter. That's as good as it got though. Rea scored a brilliant goal in the 48th minute for Ballyhea when he connected with O' Sullivan's free, and although the Glen goaled in the 52nd minute Ballyhea held firm.
Scorers | Maurice O' Sullivan 0-6, John O' Riordan 1-0, Edward Rea 1-0, Owen O' Sullivan 0-1, Barry Coleman 0-1, Danny O' Donoghue 0-1.
Team | Mark Curtin, Martin O' Keeffe, Michael Morrissey, Hugh O' Leary, Frank McNamara, Barry Coleman, Trevor O' Sullivan, Edward Rea, Owen O' Sullivan, Danny O' Donoghue, Maurice O' Sullivan, John William O' Brien, Stephen O' Sullivan, John O' Riordan, Niall Buckley.

Saturday 10th November | County "Premier" U16 Hurling Championship Semi Final
Ballyhea 2-5 Valley Rovers 0-6 @ Mayfield

With the Minor "A" Hurling County Title safely tucked away in the parish, the U16's marched into the "Premier" County Final with this hard earned 5 point victory over Valley Rovers at Mayfield on Saturday. Ballyhea got off to a tremendous start when Maurice O' Sullivan picked out Owen O' Sullivan who sent an unstoppable shot to the right hand corner of the net giving the Valley Rovers keeper no chance. Ballyhea dominated the first half but eratic shooting saw us lead just 1-2 to 0-3 at half time with points from John O' Riordan (7th Min) and Maurice O' Sullivan (19 Min). Ballyhea struck for an early goal again in the second half when Danny O' Donoghue's line ball found Maurice O' Sullivan who parted to Niall Buckley who made no mistake from close range. Points from Niall Buckley and Maurice O' Sullivan had us 2 goals ahead 2-5 to 0-5 with 10 minutes remaining. Valley Rovers tried hard to get back into the game but could only master a solitary point and thus Ballyhea after a 10 year wait are back in the County Final playing Glen Rovers who were also our oppostion in the 1991 Final.

Sunday 7th October | Under16 "A" Football Championship Semi-Final
Ballyhea 4-6 Kildorrery 3-7 @ Ballyhea

A late goal from Nial Buckley sent our u-16 footballers to the North Cork final and a meeting with Mallow. Ballyhea had an early goal from Hugh O' Leary but by the end of the 1st 1/4 the sides were level 1-2 each. Kildorrery took control now and added 1-1 to their scoreline before Trevor O' Sullivan tapped in 2 goals in the 29th and 30th minutes, to leave Ballyhea leading 3-2 to 2-3 at the break. Kildorrery started the the second half with a brilliant solo goal from Michael Walsh and they added 3 further points to lead 3-6 to 3-2 after 45 mins. But points from Maurice O' Sullivan in the 46th, 49th and 54th minutes and Neil Buckley in the 52nd had the sides level with 5 minutes to go. Erins own came more into the game now but found it hard to score against the breeze. John O' Riordan had a fine point in the 13th min to send us 5 pts clear at the end of the 1st 1/4. At half-time Ballyhea led 0-8 to 0-0. The second half was only 2 mins old when Erins Own had 2 points scored to reduce our lead to 6pts. Another Erins Own point in the 38th min had them right back in the game before a blistering spell from ballyhea inspired by Barry Coleman, Maurice O' Sullivan and Danny O' Donoghue yielded 4 pts (3 from Maurice and an excellent point from Danny) to put Ballyhea 0-12 to 0-3 ahead.
