Ballyhea came out on top in the local derby clash last Monday evening at Newtown in front of a fine attendance . Early exchanges were close with Ballyhea leading 0-5 to 0-3 after 10 minutes . The home side were dealt a huge blow a minute later when they were reduced to 14 men . Ballyhea took full advantage of this to lead 1-13 to 0-6 at the half time break . The goal coming in the 20th minute after good build up play which saw Tom Hanley link up with John Morrissey who fired home an unstoppable shot to the net .Newtown hit two early second half points but Ballyhea settled again and when Eugene O’Leary goaled in the 43rd minute the game was over as a contest. This victory was Ballyhea’s fourth in this years campaign and puts us back in the running for the playoffs.
