Ballyhea travelled to Carrigoon on Friday night but came away empty handed. Scores were hard to come by with Ballyhea leading 0-3 to 0-1 after 15 minutes Ryan Hanley 2 frees and Darran Ronan were on the mark. The home side struck for two goals before half time and were denied two more by the excellent T J Garvey. At the break we trailed 2-3 to 0-4. Despite their best efforts Ballyhea could make no inroads to the lead and when Fergal McCormack fired home Mallow's third with ten minutes remaining to go 3 goals clear there was no way back. Ballyhea though pulled a goal back with 6 minutes to go when good play by Chris Hanley and the outstanding David O'Riordan ended with a well taken goal by Mikey Mortell.
