Ballyhea made a winning return to the Senior championship ,advancing to the fourth round of the championship after a tremendous performance in Fermoy today. Neil Ronan had an early point before the Rockies fired over two in a row. Gavin Morrissey equalised with a fine score in the 6th minute.The sides were level at 5 points each after 15 minutes with points from John Morrissey, Pa O'Callaghan and captain Maurice O'Sullivan. Ballyhea now took over with the strong breeze , a pointed free from Pa O'Callaghan followed by a well taken goal from Eugene O'Leary after great work by Pa put us in the driving seat.Further points from Pa (2) and Gavin stretched our lead to 7 points. At half time we were full value for our lead 1-11 to 0-6. Blackrock started the second half well with two points in quick succession. Pa though was on the mark again with points in the 36th and 40th minutes. The latter from a glorious sideline cut. As the game entered the final quarter the margin was still at 7 , 1-13 to 0-9. Two Neil Ronan points put us 9 clear with 10 minutes remaining. Eugene and Niall Cashman exchanged points before Mikey Browne made a brilliant diving save to deny Cathal Cormack. Ballyhea finished the game in style with points from Neil and Pa to seal a famous victory. Well done to everyone involved on a wonderfull result and we can look forward to the fourth round draw which will take place in about 6 weeks time.
