Ballyhea travelled to Midleton on Saturday evening minus 7 of the starting side in last years County Intermediate final.The first half was evenly contested and at the end of the first quarter the home side led 1-5 to 0-5 their goal coming from a pulled effort from James Nagle. All Ballyhea's scores coming from the in form Pa O'Callaghan. Ballyhea were level 3 minutes later when Pa finished a 21 yard free to the net. At half time the sides went in level 1-10 each with Ballyhea playing well but hitting 7 wides in this half. Midleton though quickly got to grips in the second half and hit a  flurry of early points to see them push 6 clear after 40 minutes. Midleton pounced for a second goal in the 44th minute and entering the last quarter led 2-19 to 1-10. David O'Riordan brought off two fine saves to deny a now rampant home side. Ballyhea had late points from a Pa free and a fine score from the battling Maurice O'Sullivan. Ballyhea's next outing in the league is a home game versus Ballymartle.
