The Redfm senior hurling commenced this week end with Ballyhea facing St Finbarrs at home. Minus a number of regulars Ballyhea went under to the City side by 6 points. Played in very heavy conditions we got off to a good start with a point from the excellent Maurice O'Sullivan. The Barrs though took over hitting 6 points on the trot. Maurice O'Sullivan responded with 2 points to leave us 3 behind 0-6 to 0-3 after 21 minutes. The visitors again regained control scoring 5 unanswered points to lead 0-11 to 0-3 at the break. The outstanding Barry Coleman sent over a long range free in the 36th minute and Liam O'Connor on his return to the black and white struck for a well taken point to reduce the deficit to six. T J Garvey had to be alert to deny Enda Dennehy but the Barrs added two more points before John Morrissey and Eoin Finn exchanged scores. Ballyhea finished well with two frees from Maurice O'Sullivan to leave 6 points between the sides at the finish. Next up is Ballymartle away next Saturday.
