The senior hurlers bounced back from last week ends defeat with a terrific victory away to the Sean OG O'Halpin trained Na Piarsaigh this evening. The first half was played in whrill wind fashion with some terrific scores from both sides. Eddie Rea opened the scoring for Ballyhea in the 3rd minute. The home side though struck for a well worked goal in the 7th minute but we responded well with points from Gavin Morrissey 2 (his first of the campaign) and Jonathon O'Sullivan before Na Piarsaigh netted their second goal to lead 2-2 to 0-4 after just 12 minutes.Again our response was excellent with points from John Morrissey (2), Pa O'Callaghan and a long ranger from Liam O'Connor to have the sides level 2-2 to 0-8 after 18 minutes of play.Ballyhea had edged ahead by the 24th minute helped by another brace from Gavin Morrissey before we were hit with another goal from the hosts 3-4 to 0-12. Showing great resilience Ballyhea shrugged of this set back with points from Maurice O'Sullivan , Pa O'Callaghan and captain Gavin Morrissey firing over his fifth of the game on the stroke of half time to leave the sides level 0-15 to 3-6.Both defences tightend up in the second half with Kevin Copps and James Hennessy especially prominent but as a unit all 6 did very well for Ballyhea limiting the opposition to just 2 points from play in the second half. The sides were still level entering the final quarter 0-18 to 3-9 . Pa O'Callaghan pointing a free to put us ahead and then came the turning pooint of the game. James Hennessy intercepting a Na Piarsaigh attack and with his clearance finding Daniel Relihan whose clever pass found Maurice O'Sullivan in full flight who then parted to Gavin Morrissey to double delightfully to the net. Pa added another free to put us 5 ahead. The home side though refused to die and with the aid of three frees reduced the lead to just two points but a terrific point from a sideline cut from Pa O'Callaghan and with the Ballyhea defence standing strong we picked up our 3rd league win of the season and a first Senior league victory at Na Piarsaigh since1991.
