Ballyhea's wonderfull campaign for 2014 ended today at Mallow in the Munster Intermediate hurling championship 1/4 final. Forced to field without the unavailable Neil Ronan and Pa O'Callaghan , Ballyhea started well and led 1-10 to 1-3 at half time after playing with a strong wind. The goal coming from a long range Maurice O'Sullivan free. Ballyhea still held the lead entering the final quarter 1-13 to 2-7, but it should have been more as we were guilty of a number of bad wides ending up with 16 in total to Lixnaw's 4. The Kerry lads struck for a crucial goal with 7 minutes to go to to draw level 1-14 to 3-8. With the wind at their back Lixnaw added 3 more points , although Ballyhea came close to grabbing an equaliser in the last minute when Kieran Morrissey's rasping shot shaved the post . Lixnaw now face Bruff in the Munster semi final.
