The Junior B hurlers put up a brave performance before losing out to Ballyclough in an entertaining Junior B Final at Churchtown . Backed by the breeze, Ballyhea took the game to Ballyclough in the opening 30 minutes with some fine scores but were unfortunate to concede a goal late in the half to see them trail by 1-8 to 1-6 at the break. The second half was well contested, the turning point came when Ballyclough had a purple patch in the third quarter as they opened up a 5 point lead, which left Ballyhea chasing the game after that. Our lads showed great spirit to reduce the gap with a Derek Mackessy goal but try as they might we were unable to get back on level terms and Ballyclough held on to take the title. This was a fine effort by the Juniors, who had reached the final with a depleted panel having lost a number of players to the Intermediate team during the year, so well done to them and to the management of Mossie, Tom, Frank and Ollie for their efforts.
