Ballyhea reached the North Cork Junior B hurling final today after this hard earned victory over Fermoy at Doneraile . Hero of the hour was Kieran O'Riordan who struck for 3 goals and a point. Fermoy started well and led 0-3 to nil after ten minutes before Aidan Crowley had our opening point. Fermoy replied with a point before Kieran O'Riordan was on hand to flick home his first goal after a great run by Stephen Roche, to leave the sides level at the end of the first quarter. Scores were now at a premium with Ryan Hanley getting the next score, a well taken point after 26 minutes. Fermoy replied again with two points before Darran Ronan's effort ended up in the net for Ballyhea's second goal. Fermoy had the last score of the half as Ballyhea went in a point to the good at the break 2-2 to 0-7. Darran Ronan pointed in the first minute of the second half and this was followed by Kieran O'Riordan's second goal a minute later. Fermoy responded again with two points before an excellent catch , solo run and finish from Daniel Relihan put us 6 points clear. Fermoy once again repied with a pointed free. The game took a turn in the 42nd minute when we were reduced to 14 men. Again scores were hard to get until Fermoy had three points in a row to narrow the gap to 2 points with 7 minutes remaining. Fermoy were now reduced to 14 players for a second yellow offence. T J Garvey who was now between the posts as Olly Morrissey was forced off with a reoccurence of a knee injury, made a fine save in the 55th minute. Kieran O'Riordan fired over a point and followed with his third goal in injury time finishing Daniel Relihan's long delivery to the net, to settle Ballyhea nerves. Daniel then put Ballyhea 7 clear deep in injury time with a close in free, and booked our place in the final versus Ballyclough. Well done to everyone involved on a great victory .
