Ballyhea made no mistake at the second time of asking defeating Castlelyons at Kilworth today in the Premier Intermediate quarter final replay. This time Ballyhea started well and led from start to finish. Early points form Neil Ronan and Pa O'Callaghan settled the side and at the end of the first quarter led 0-4 to 0-1. The Imokilly lads pulled two points back but Ballyhea replied with scores from Neil Ronan and Eugene O'Leary to restore our lead . Three minutes before the break Timmy Shanahans well struck line ball found Kieran Morrissey who cut through the defence to finish brilliantly to the net to put Ballyhea 5 points clear . Castleyons though replied immediately when a defensive error left Colm Spillane in for a goal . But two minutes into additional time , another fine run saw Kieran Morrissey point to leave 3 points between the sides at half time 1-7 to 1-4. Ballyhea took over in the second half, Maurice O'Sullivan who was dominant in midfield struck for a well taken goal in the 35th minute and pointed straight from the puck out to leave a bit of daylight between the teams. Ballyhea controlled proceedings but hit a number of wides although Pa O'Callaghan fired over three well taken points mid way through the half. Neil Ronan finished the scoring with a point 4 minutes from the end . Ballyhea now face old rivals Cloyne in the County Semi final next week end. This is Ballyhea first appearance in a County intermediate semi final in 34 years. A number of injuries were picked up today, hopefully all will have cleared up for next Saturday evening.
